#### When To Use It

When you have things like products or characteristics that you want the respondents to rank in a particular order.

Try to limit your options to 6 to 10 items, and don’t read too much into the middle rankings. For example, in a list of 10 items, the difference between a ranking of 4 and 5 isn’t reliable for most people. Keep this in mind when formulating insights from your data.

(e.g. Rate the following flavors: Banana, strawberry, chocolate)

#### Results

The score is a weighted calculation. Items ranked first are given a higher value or "weight." The score, computed for each answer option/row header, is the sum of all the weighted values. For example, if there are 5 options, the weighted sum for an option that was placed in the first position (1) would be worth 5. The points are added up and the item with the highest points is ranked first. Results include how many times an item was voted first, second, and third place.

Individual results (displayed as a spreadsheet) will display the item choices as column headers and the respondent's ranking below that.
